Jon's new book! CYCLONE

Hey guys, Jon here.

I know we don’t normally post on Saturday but I’m feeling a little shameless today. Why? Because I’ve just published a new book!

I like to write poetry in my spare time and sometimes I have enough to put together and publish.

The result? CYCLONE.

CYCLONE is my third book of original poems and serves as a bit of a commentary on the polarization facing much of the world today. The poems come from a place of lament but also hope that the Better Way of Jesus can bring us out of this mess.

The Wise Revolution
The wise revolution is not about
Killing the past or
Casting a shadow on doubt.
Its ends aren’t measurable
By the instruments of men,
Its schematic is in the stones
And love of the mother hen.
The movement begins upon
Looking at the self,
Its convalescence is in death and
Denial of this world’s wealth.
Our bloodied fist refuses to strike
But instead extends a hymn
To suffer for truth
And all that is dim.

The wise revolution is not as you think,
It was there before the start,
Before the first cry was cast
In a renovation of the heart.
It’s God’s longing for a people,
It’s what happened on that Tree,
It’s what fell three days later,
It’s His revolution that sets us free.
