Goodbye

Jon and I at the beginning of our Theophilus Journey

No, this is not clickbait.

After over a year of sending emails every single weekday, Jon and I have made the difficult decision to stop with Theophilus.

We have loved making these emails and have received so many encouraging words from our readers.

Since we began Theophilus in 2024, we have sent out 285 emails totaling over 140,000 words. For context, the average novel is about 70,000-100,000 words, meaning that we have essentially written two novels since we started Theophilus.

Jon and I started the Theophilus with the goal of helping readers understand the certainty of their faith, living it out in their daily lives. We based this off the words in Luke 1:3-4 where we read:

“I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.”

It was our heart to send a piece of content for every weekday to encourage and bring our readers closer to God throughout the week.

However, 2 novels later we realized it simply was not feasible to continue giving Theophilus the time it deserved. The time you deserved as our faithful readers.

While we briefly considered moving to a weekly or monthly newsletter, we ultimately decided that if we could not keep to our vision for Theophilus, it was best to let it go.

And so, with much sadness, we have decided to stop.

Jon and I want to sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you for reading. Whether you read Theophilus every day or only read a single email, we are so grateful you took the time.

We hope and pray that what we have written over the past year has been encouraging and thought-provoking, and has perhaps even given you a new perspective on what it means to live as a Christian in our modern world.

I want to end by praying a blessing over you, the same blessing we end every single service with at ICF Noord – our home church.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Be Blessed,

Aaron and Jon
