Falling asleep while reading the Bible

Let me ask you if this sounds familiar.

You are doing your Christian duty of reading the Bible. It's early in the morning or late in the evening. You read a few short passages.

And then your eyes begin to droop.

You catch yourself, read a bit further, and then you really get sleepy.

Before you know it, you either have read a full passage with absolutely no recollection of what you just read, or you fell asleep trying.

Reading the Bible can be boring.

The good news is that while there will always be parts that may seem extra boring (cough cough first 9 chapters of 1 Chronicles cough cough), the Bible can actually be enjoyable to read.

More so than that, I would argue that the Bible was made to be enjoyed

So this week at Theophilus we are going to do a deep dive into why the Bible is sometimes boring to read, and more importantly, what we can do about it.

And hopefully by the end of the week, you will be dusting off the Bible on your shelf, and diving back into the glorious word of God.

Or if you are already a faithful Bible reader, you will be able to find joy in your daily Bible reading routine again.

We will start tomorrow by diving into why the Bible can sometimes be so boring.

Until then,

Be Blessed,

Aaron
