Be a fork

“It's impossible to meet the real Jesus and leave indifferent”

- The Late Timothy Keller

I read this quote this past week, and it stuck with me.

It reminded me that meeting Jesus, the real Jesus, is an incredible experience. It is not one where we leave unscathed, unchanged. It is a terrifying, wonderful, life-changing experience. We cannot leave indifferent in meeting him, encountering Him.

It reminded me of another quote from Jim Elliot – a missionary who gave his life for Christ.

âťť

“Bring those I contact to decision. Let me not be a milepost on a single road; make me a fork, that men must turn one way or another on facing Christ in me.”

Jim Elliot: A martyr for Jesus

Jim Elliot wanted to be like Jesus.

That when people met him they could not walk away indifferent. That he would be a so-called fork in the road – a decision point. That upon meeting him, people would be forced to choose for Christ or not.

These two quotes are undeniably linked.

When we meet Christ and become changed people, then people will see Christ in us and become changed. It starts with encountering Christ in our everyday lives. Letting him transform us into people of love beyond what we could possibly fathom. And praying that he would change you into the person who is a fork in the road.

A person who reflects Christ.

That people would meet you and not leave indifferent.

That you would be the fork in the road.

May that be your aspiration as you seek towards a life modelled after Christ.

Until next week,

Be Blessed,

Aaron
